Pentecost (Cycle A)

Eastern Orthodox Icon of the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. At the bottom is an allegorical figure, called Kosmos, which symbolizes the world. At the beginning of this eighth and final week of Easter, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Pentecost. The apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary receive the promise of our Savior in receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. Emboldened by the Third Person of the Trinity, the apostles begin to fearlessly proclaim the Gospel beginning in Jerusalem.
