February 3rd is the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel reading from St. Matthew's Gospel, we hear a portion of our Lord's Sermon on the Mount. In this section, our Lord teaches on the Beatitudes which describe the virtues of the Kingdom of God which everyone who follows Christ should be striving to possess.
