Lenten Resources
Lent is the liturgical season of prayer and penance that prepares our hearts for the celebration of our Lord's Resurrection. In the Latin Rite, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and continues for forty days, excluding Sundays, until Holy Saturday.
The beginning of Lent is determined by the date of Easter. Accordingly, Ash Wednesday can begin on any date from February 4 until March 11. This year's beginning date of February 6 is the earliest beginning of Lent since 1913.
